Leaving Neverland II: Surviving Michael Jackson Documentary Set to Release in March

A follow-up to the controversial 2019 documentary Leaving Neverland is set to premiere next month. Directed by Dan Reed, Leaving Neverland II: Surviving Michael Jackson will continue the story of Wade Robson and James Safechuck, two men who allege they were sexually abused by Michael Jackson as children.

The 49-minute film, which will air on Channel 4 in the U.K. on March 18, documents Robson and Safechuck’s ongoing legal battle against Jackson’s companies. The two are suing, claiming that Jackson’s companies should have protected them from the alleged abuse. A trial date has been proposed for November 2026.

Despite Jackson’s denials of the accusations and the continued stance of his estate, the new documentary aims to explore the difficult journey Robson and Safechuck have faced in their pursuit of justice. Filmed over five years, the documentary gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the personal and legal struggles of Robson, Safechuck, their families, and legal teams. It will also discuss the impact of Leaving Neverland, including an interview with Oprah Winfrey, and the intense reactions from Jackson’s die-hard fans.

This new film is not the end of the story, as producers have also confirmed that a third documentary on the subject is in development. Fans of Jackson may not be thrilled about the release, especially after his estate filed lawsuits against HBO over the first documentary.

Meanwhile, an authorized Jackson biopic is set to be released this October, showing another side of the King of Pop’s life and legacy.
