Singer-songwriter Halsey has canceled her planned performance in Bangor, Maine, after waking up with a sudden loss of voice, according to a heartfelt Instagram Story she shared with fans on Wednesday.
In her emotional message, Halsey wrote, “I woke up this morning and my voice was just… gone.” After consulting with her doctor, she was advised not to perform as singing could cause further injury to her vocal cords. “We have to cancel tonight’s show in Bangor,” she said. “I’m devastated.”
Halsey, known for her powerful vocals and passionate live performances, told fans that she would push through anything to stay on stage—except this. “There’s nothing that would keep me off of a stage besides not being able to sing. I would try to push through anything else, but this is the one situation I can’t.”
While the cancellation is disappointing, Halsey reassured fans that the rest of her tour is still on track. Her doctors have advised that rest will allow her to recover in time for the upcoming shows. “Canceling tonight is the only way to make sure that happens,” she added.
Sometimes, due to health or other reasons, our favorite artists and singers have to cancel their shows. Sometimes ago, the band Kansas also canceled some shows because their lead singer Ronnie Platt is fighting thyroid cancer.
Refunds will be issued automatically for those who bought tickets through Ticketmaster. Fans who purchased tickets from third-party platforms like StubHub, SeatGeek, or VividSeats are encouraged to contact their point of purchase directly.
Halsey closed her message with a note of gratitude: “Thank you for always giving me grace when I need it. I love you all so much.”
The singer has been on tour promoting her latest music and connecting with fans across the country. While this health issue is unfortunate, her dedication to recovery shows her commitment to delivering the best possible performances going forward.
