About the Film

I’m Still Here chronicles Eunice Paiva’s life during and after the Brazilian military dictatorship. Following the disappearance of her husband Rubens Paiva in 1971, Eunice’s relentless pursuit of justice leads to her arrest and torture, as well as public recognition for her courage. The film spans decades, depicting her struggles and triumphs, including her later achievements as a legal expert on Indigenous Rights.

The film had its world premiere on September 1, 2024, at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, where it won the Best Screenplay award. Fernanda Torres’ performance received unanimous praise, earning her the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama. I’m Still Here was Brazil’s official entry for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards and made the December shortlist.
