Hannah Berner Apologizes to Megan Thee Stallion for “Fight Music” Comment

Comedian Hannah Berner has publicly apologized to rapper Megan Thee Stallion after a comment she made during an interview sparked backlash online.

While speaking to Megan at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party on March 2, alongside her Giggly Squad podcast co-host Paige DeSorbo, Hannah said she listens to Megan’s music when she feels like she wants to “fight someone.”

Though Megan laughed off the remark at the time, some people online criticized the comment, calling it a “microaggression.”

On Thursday, Hannah took to her Instagram Stories to issue a heartfelt apology.

“Interviewing Megan Thee Stallion was a dream of mine,” the 33-year-old wrote. “I love her music — it’s my go-to whenever I need a confidence boost before a show. Looking back, I wish I used any word but ‘fight’ to describe how her songs make me feel.”

She added that there was no bad intention behind her words but admitted they carried a deeper meaning.

“It was a careless choice of words, and I am so sorry to Megan. I appreciate everyone who pointed this out to me,” she said. “I’ll be more mindful moving forward.”

Megan has not responded to the apology, but during the original interview, the Hot Girl Summer rapper didn’t seem too bothered by the comment.

Hannah had said, “Your music makes me wanna — when I wanna fight someone, I listen to your music. When people are talking s**t, I go, ‘Turn on Megan Thee Stallion.'”

To which Megan replied with a smile, “Because you wanna throw that fighting st out the window, and you wanna get cute and be a bad bch.”

It seems Megan’s message remains clear: it’s all about confidence, not conflict.
