Ed Sheeran Surprises Fans with a New Sound Inspired by Persian Music!

Ed Sheeran is taking his music in a brand-new direction!

The 34-year-old singer-songwriter, known for his pop and folk hits, has revealed that his upcoming album Play will have a unique Eurasian influence. Instead of experimenting with death metal, as he previously hinted, Sheeran is now exploring sounds inspired by Persian culture.

His new single, Azizam, set to release next month, was born out of a collaboration with producer Ilya Salmanzadeh, who has worked with stars like Ariana Grande and Sam Smith. Sheeran shared that Ilya introduced him to Persian music, sparking a fresh creative journey.

“I love learning about different cultures through music,” Sheeran told The Sun. “When Ilya suggested incorporating Persian influences, it was like stepping into a whole new world. I found so many similarities between Persian music and the Irish folk music I grew up with—it just proves how music connects us all.”

Although fans are still waiting for the death metal project he once teased, Sheeran has already teamed up with heavy metal band Cradle of Filth. Rumors suggest their collaboration may appear on a future album from the band.

With Azizam and Play on the way, Sheeran’s new musical chapter is about to begin—and fans can’t wait to hear what he’s created!
