Tate McRae might be riding high with her chart-topping album So Close to What, but not all her music was meant for the spotlight—at least not yet. The 21-year-old pop star recently revealed that early songs she wrote as a teen have unexpectedly leaked online.
“Everything is getting leaked—every song I wrote when I was 14 or 15,” she told Daily Star’s Wired column, admitting some of those tracks were never meant to see the light of day. Still, the greedy hitmaker isn’t sweating it.
With over 70 songs to choose from for her latest album, Tate is focused on what truly matters—her passion for music and the people she surrounds herself with. “I’m so lucky I have my best friends in my team the whole time. I’m crying laughing 24/7—that’s what makes it really worth it,” she shared.
But Tate’s not stopping there. She has her sights set on a major career milestone—performing at the MTV VMAs. “I would die to perform at the VMAs. That’s something I’ve watched all my idols do for so many years,” she told Pride.
Known for her drive and belief in manifesting her goals, Tate envisions the perfect performance as a seamless blend of dance, fashion, and music. “When they’re all balanced perfectly, that’s my ideal performance.”
With her unstoppable ambition and fearless attitude, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before Tate takes the VMA stage by storm.
