Rock band Kansas has put their tour on hold after lead singer Ronnie Platt revealed he has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The longtime frontman assured fans that the cancer was caught early and has a high survival rate.
Platt, who has been with Kansas since 2014, shared the news on social media, staying positive about his recovery. “It’s just a bump in the road,” he said, explaining that he will undergo surgery to remove his thyroid before taking some time to heal.
Due to Platt’s diagnosis, the band canceled their New Orleans show and a March 1st performance in Louisiana. Despite the setback, the group—famous for rock classics like Carry On Wayward Son and Dust in the Wind—plans to return to the stage soon.
Fans have flooded Platt with well wishes, and he has asked for “positive thoughts and prayers” as he focuses on his recovery. Kansas recently celebrated 50 years in music, and with Platt’s fighting spirit, they’re determined to keep rocking for years to come!
